Finding good starting pitchers can be a weekly struggle. I aim to solve this headache during this season by finding the best pitchers, every week, who are on most waiver wires. I use the FantasyPros streaming pitchers tool to find league roster percentage information.

First, let’s take a look at last week’s picks:
- Dustin May (vs. BAL): 6.0 Innings, 5 Strikeouts, 2 Earned Runs, 8 Hits, 2 Walks (Loss)
- Emmet Sheehan (@COL): 6.0 Innings, 7 Strikeouts, 4 Earned Runs, 6 Hits, 2 Walks (Win)
- Cam Schlittler (@TB): 6.2 Innings, 8 Strikeouts, 0 Earned Runs, 1 Hit, 0 Walks (No Decision)
- Brandon Young (vs. HOU): 5.1 Innings, 1 Strikeout, 7 Earned Runs, 9 Hits, 2 Walks (Loss)
Total: 18.0 Innings, 21 Strikeouts, 13 Earned Runs, 24 Hits, 6 Walks (1-2)
If not for Brandon Young’s implosion, this would have been one of our best weeks yet. Alas, Young did implode, and our numbers do not look quite as good. Regardless, Dustin May, Emmet Sheehan, and, especially, Cam Schlittler bring this week together. Let’s look for more starting pitchers to stream to bring next week together.
Without further delay, below are my picks for pitchers to stream during Week 22, from Monday, August 25th through Sunday, August 31st.
Fantasy Baseball Streaming Pitchers
Monday, August 25th
Cam Schlittler (SP – NYY) vs. WSH | 7% Rostered
Cam Schlittler is on a roll. He has allowed four runs across his last three starts, spanning 16.2 innings. More significantly, Schlittler tossed 6.2 scoreless innings of eight-strikeout ball against the Rays on August 20th.
The rookie has had some rocky starts, but is gaining his footing in the majors. Schittler has a 3.22 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP to prove it. Stream Schlittler against the Nationals.
Alternative: Emmet Sheehan (SP – LAD) vs. CIN | 6% Rostered
Tuesday, August 26th
Jameson Taillon (SP – CHC) @ SF | 17% Rostered
Jameson Taillon dazzled against the scorching-hot Brewers in his return from nearly two months off due to a calf injury. The veteran righty earned a quality start against the hottest team in baseball and quieted any concerns about rustiness.
Look for Taillon to carry this momentum into a matchup against the Giants, who are much colder and have only won two of their last 10 games.
Alternative: Michael Lorenzen (SP – KC) @ CWS | 5% Rostered
Wednesday, August 27th
Cade Cavalli (SP – WSH) @ NYY | 4% Rostered
Cade Cavalli is a high-risk, high-reward streamer. The 27-year-old is finally back in the Majors after battling years of injuries, and we are beginning to see why he was surrounded by prospect hype in 2022. Cavalli has allowed just seven runs in 22.1 innings this season, striking out 18.
Cavalli has impressed in back-to-back starts against the Phillies, where he earned quality starts. Although the starter is playing a hard opponent, his success against the Phillies suggests he is up to the challenge. Consider streaming Cavalli against the Yankees.
Alternative: Colin Rea (SP – CHC) @ SF | 10% Rostered
Thursday, August 28th
Dean Kremer (SP – BAL) @ BOS | 17% Rostered
Dean Kremer had a wonderful start against the Astros on August 17th, tossing 114 pitches in seven scoreless innings. Kremer has been great for a long time this season — he has an ERA of 3.36 from June 1st to August 23rd. Feel confident streaming Kremer against the Red Sox.
Alternative: Will Warren (SP – NYY) @ CWS | 24% Rostered
Friday, August 29th
Dustin May (SP – BOS) vs. PIT | 17% Rostered
Dustin May has an ERA of 2.87 since joining the Red Sox rotation. The surprise trade deadline piece has found a nice home in Boston, to the delight of fantasy managers hunting for streaming options.
It is a great idea to stream May against the Pirates, who have the lowest team OPS in the league (.654).
Alternative: Matthew Liberatore (SP – STL) @ CIN | 18% Rostered
Saturday, August 30th
Michael McGreevy (SP – STL) | @ CIN 4% Rostered
Michael McGreevy has had three consecutive quality starts. The 25-year-old has demonstrated excellent control this season, walking only seven batters across 57 innings. McGreevy has a shiny 1.19 WHIP, but a lackluster 4.42 ERA.
While McGreevy is a streaming option for a reason, he should provide value against the Reds. Cincinnati has a team OPS of .689 across their last 30 games, the 10th-worst mark in baseball. McGreevy has performed well when facing low-OPS teams all season, and this outing should be more of the same.
Alternative: Jake Irvin (SP – WSH) vs. TB | 9% Rostered
Sunday, August 31st
Lucas Giolito (SP – BOS) vs. PIT | 33% Rostered
Lucas Giolito is a great streaming option to end the week, if he is available in your league. The veteran finds himself opposing the Pirates, who have the worst team OPS in baseball (.654).
Giolito has an ERA of 3.72 on the season, yet has a much lower ERA of 2.55 since finding his footing after injury. Ideally, Giolito should crush the 55-74 Pirates.
Alternative: J.T. Ginn (SP – ATH) vs. TEX | 1% Rostered
