Now that the season is past the halfway mark, you should be grinding the two-start pitchers to give you an advantage over your competition.
Each week, I will be giving you a breakdown of the two-start options for your fantasy leagues broken up into the following tiers:
- Must Start: The guys that you have to start because of their talent and/or matchups.
- Should Start: These are the guys that are rostered in most formats and probably should be in your lineup.
- Here We Go: Pitchers that you are probably starting in most formats but have some level of risk to them.
- Feeling Lucky: Pitchers that are risky, but viable in deeper formats.
- Desperate Measures: Pitchers you shouldn’t use unless you have no other choice.
Make sure you are aware that when making fantasy baseball start or sit decisions that these projected two-start pitchers are subject to change.

Fantasy Baseball Two-Start Pitchers
Must Start
- Bryce Miller (SP – SEA) vs SD, at CLE
- Tarik Skubal (SP – DET) at ATH, at KC
- Noah Cameron (SP – KC) at CHW, vs DET
- Joe Ryan (SP – MIN) at TOR, vs SD
- Jacob deGrom (SP – TEX) vs LAA, at ATH
- Edward Cabrera (SP – MIA) vs ATL, at NYM
- Cristopher Sanchez (SP – PHI) at NYM, vs ATL
- Matthew Boyd (SP – DET) at SF, at COL
- Hunter Greene (SP – CIN) at LAD, vs STL
- Kodai Senga (SP – NYM) vs PHI, vs MIA
Should Start
Cam Schlittler (SP – NYY) vs WAS, at CHW
Schlittler has been great this season, throwing 36.1 innings with a 3.22 ERA and 38 strikeouts since joining the Yankees rotation. His underlying skills aren’t as good as this, but he has been hot and the Yankees are a great offense supporting him.
Spencer Strider (SP – ATL) at MIA, at PHI
Strider has struggled as of late, but this is to be expected in his first season back from elbow surgery. He still has elite upside and if you are thinking about sitting him that’s ok, but the upside is too much to ignore.
Sandy Alcantara (SP – MIA) vs ATL, at NYM
Alcantara has been up and down this season coming back from TJ, but again, that is to be expected. He has been great recently, so you should be rolling with him.
Quinn Priester (SP – MIL) vs ARI, at TOR
Priester has been fantastic this season, but has struggled a bit down the stretch. You are still using him in most formats, but a weekend matchup versus the Blue Jays is scary.
Max Scherzer (SP – TOR) vs MIN, vs MIL
Scherzer has been pretty good since returning from the IL even if his underlying numbers are less than rosy. He has a great matchup to start the week and a tough one at the back end, but you are using him in most spots.
Here We Go
Luis Gil (SP – NYY) vs WAS, at CHW
Gil has been pretty good after a rough first start returning from injury. He is a bit risky because we don’t know how long his leash will be but these are about as good of matchups as you can ask for.
Kyle Bradish (SP – BAL) vs BOS, at SF
Bradish has looked great in his rehab starts, but it is hard to know if that will translate to his season debut. He has a tough matchup at the beginning of the week and an easier one at the end. There is some upside here because the arm is great when healthy.
Shane Baz (SP – TB) at CLE, at WAS
Baz has been up and down this season, but he has been great on the road where both of these contests are. He has a 3.52 road ERA and has two nice matchups away from Tampa, so he is a great stream where available.
Jesus Luzardo (SP – PHI) at NYM, vs ATL
Luzardo has been up and down this season, but he has been better as of late and you have a ton of win potential and strikeout upside here. The matchups are tough and there is risk with his blowup potential, but the upside is so great you are probably using him in most formats where you aren’t protecting your ratios.
Feeling Lucky
Sean Manaea (SP – NYM) vs PHI, vs MIA
Manaea has struggled as of late and he hasn’t even gone deep enough to qualify for a win in two of his last three. You will get strikeouts and the Mets will support him, but there is risk with a start against the Phillies to lead us off this week.
Jacob Misiorowski (SP – MIL) vs ARI, at TOR
The skills for Mis are fantastic, but the Brewers may be limiting him so he is available for the postseason which lowers his value tremendously and ups the risk.
Mitch Keller (SP – PIT) at STL, at BOS
Keller has been fantastic this season, but has struggled recently. He should bounce back, but these are matchups with teams that can get to you so there is some risk and not much win potential with the Pirates.
Justin Verlander (SP – SF) vs CHC, vs BAL
Verlander has been great recently, but these are not great matchups and the Giants are not winning ball games right now. This is more of a hail mary than anything else.
Desperate Measures
- Tomoyuki Sugano (SP – BAL) vs BOS, at SF
- Shane Smith (SP – CWS) vs KC, at NYY
- Martin Perez (SP -CWS) vs KC, at NYY
- Tanner Bibee (SP – CLE) vs TB, vs SEA
- J.T. Ginn – (SP – ATH) vs DET, vs TEX
- Jose Soriano (SP – LAA) at TEX, at HOU
- Brad Lord (SP – WAS) at NYY, vs TB
- Johan Oviedo (SP – PIT) at STL, at BOS
- Michael McGreevy (SP – STL) vs PIT, at CIN
- Andre Pallante (SP – STL) vs PIT, at CIN
- Eduardo Rodriguez (SP – ARI) at MIL, at LAD
- Tanner Gordon (SP – COL) at HOU, vs CHC
