Fantasy Football Quarterback Streamers & Waiver Wire Targets (Week 5)

Week 4 of the 2025 NFL season is in the books. Hopefully, your team pulled out the victory. However, the only easy win was last week’s win. So, let’s look at the top streaming quarterback options for Week 5.

Fantasy Football Quarterback Streamers & Waiver Wire Targets

All the quarterbacks in this article are rostered in under 50% of ESPN leagues.

Matthew Stafford (LAR) vs. San Francisco 49ers (40.9% Rostered)

Stafford has been a solid streaming option for fantasy players since Week 1. After totaling 245 passing yards, one touchdown, and 13.6 fantasy points against the Houston Texans, the veteran quarterback has averaged 289.7 passing yards, 2.3 touchdowns, and 19.5 fantasy points per game over the past three weeks, scoring 17.3 or more twice. Last week, he set season-highs in passing yards (375), touchdowns (three), and fantasy points (27.4) against an impressive Indianapolis Colts defense. Furthermore, Stafford has had at least two passing touchdowns in three consecutive contests.

While some try to avoid starting players who play on Thursday night, the future Hall of Famer has top-12 upside against the 49ers in Week 5. San Francisco has held quarterbacks to 172.5 passing yards, 1.3 touchdowns, and 13.2 fantasy points per game over the first month. However, they have faced Sam Darnold, Spencer Rattler, Kyler Murray, and Trevor Lawrence. Yet, the 49ers gave up three passing touchdowns and 21.7 fantasy points to Rattler on the road. Stafford could easily have a three-touchdown performance at home on Thursday night.

Geno Smith (LV) vs. Indianapolis Colts (34.9% Rostered)

Fantasy players will likely hate this pick, but Smith has been a capable streaming option, especially on the road. The veteran quarterback has had two awful performances in Las Vegas, completing under 60% of his pass attempts for 148.5 yards, one touchdown, and 6.5 fantasy points per game, totaling 9.8 or fewer in both contests. However, he has played well on the road, completing over 68% of his pass attempts for 325.5 yards, two touchdowns, and 21.8 fantasy points per game, totaling 17.5 or fewer in both outings.

Thankfully, Smith heads to Indianapolis to face the Colts in Week 5. They haven’t taken on many capable quarterbacks this season, facing Tua Tagovailoa, Bo Nix, and Cam Ward over the first three weeks, surrendering 190.3 passing yards, 1.7 touchdowns, and 13 fantasy points per game, allowing 12 or fewer twice. However, Indianapolis had no answers for Matthew Stafford in Week 4, surrendering 375 passing yards, three touchdowns, and 27.4 fantasy points, all season highs for the veteran. While he won’t put up those numbers, Smith has high-end QB2 upside.

Jaxson Dart (NYG) vs. New Orleans Saints (21.1% Rostered)

Unfortunately, the Giants won’t have Malik Nabers for the rest of the season after he tore his ACL in Sunday’s win over the Los Angeles Chargers. While the news threw a wet blanket on Dart’s first career start, the rookie quarterback shined on Sunday. Despite losing Nabers early in the game, the former Ole Miss star averaged a decent 0.42 fantasy points per pass attempt. More importantly, he was a significant factor on the ground, totaling 10 rushing attempts for 54 yards and a touchdown, scoring 11.4 fantasy points.

Despite losing Nabers and facing a talented Chargers defense, Dart finished Week 4 as a top-12 quarterback, scoring 19.8 fantasy points. More importantly, he has a fantasy-friendly matchup on Sunday against the Saints. New Orleans has given up 217.3 passing yards, 2.3 touchdowns, and 20.4 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season, allowing 16.7 or more in every outing. Furthermore, despite facing Sam Darnold and Mac Jones, they have surrendered 3.7 fantasy points per game on the ground to quarterbacks. Dart is an excellent QB2 option in superflex leagues.

Sam Darnold (SEA) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9.4% Rostered)

Speaking of Darnold, the veteran quarterback hasn’t been a fantasy star like in 2024. He was awful in Week 1, totaling 5.4 fantasy points. Yet, the former USC star has been consistent over the past three weeks, averaging 251.7 passing yards, 1.7 touchdowns, and 16.2 fantasy points per game, totaling between 15.8 and 16.7 in every contest. Meanwhile, according to Fantasy Points Data, the Seahawks are the most run-heavy team in the NFL, as they are the only team with more rushing snaps (121) than pass snaps (111) this year.

However, Seattle will have to lean on the passing attack in Week 5, making Darnold an undervalued streaming option. The Buccaneers have an elite run defense, allowing only 3.3 yards per rushing attempt this season, including 2.3 to Saquon Barkley last week. Meanwhile, they have surrendered 208 passing yards, 1.5 touchdowns, and 18.8 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks despite facing three subpar quarterbacks this year. While he will likely have an interception or two, Darnold should have over 40 pass attempts this week for the first time in 2025.
