Early Fantasy Football Trade Advice for Week 3

Players to Buy

Jordan Love (QB – GB)

After struggling with injuries last year, Love looks like the player we saw during the 2023 season. The former Utah State star has two passing touchdowns in both games this year. Furthermore, he barely broke a sweat in Week 2, totaling 292 yards and 20.9 fantasy points on 31 attempts. While the Packers lost Jayden Reed to a fractured collarbone, Love has plenty of weapons. More importantly, Green Bay has a fantasy-friendly schedule over the next several weeks, with matchups against the Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals, and Carolina Panthers.

Kenneth Walker III (RB – SEA)

Last week, I told fantasy players to avoid starting any Seattle running back in Week 2. Walker (13 rushing attempts and one target) saw less work than Zach Charbonnet (15 rushing attempts and zero targets) against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Yet, he was the far better running back. Walker had 105 rushing yards (8.1 yards per attempt), a touchdown, and 18.8 PPR fantasy points. By comparison, Charbonnet had 10 rushing yards (0.7 yards per attempt) and one fantasy point earlier today. I’m back in on Walker after an ugly Week 1.

Bhayshul Tuten (RB – JAC)

While Travis Etienne Jr. is still the Jaguars’ No. 1 running back, Tuten saw a significant increase in work today compared to Week 1. The rookie had three touches for 11 scrimmage yards and 1.1 PPR fantasy points last week. By comparison, he had 10 touches for 74 scrimmage yards, a receiving touchdown, and 15.4 fantasy points on Sunday. While Jacksonville faced a below-average Cincinnati Bengals defense, their backfield averaged 5.3 yards per rushing attempt and 6.3 yards per touch. Expect both running backs to have meaningful value moving forward.

Rome Odunze (WR – CHI)

Sometimes fantasy players need to buy high on a player because their value won’t drop anytime soon. Unfortunately, that applies to Odunze. The former Washington star has taken over as Chicago’s clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver. He led the team with six receptions and nine targets in Week 1. More importantly, Odunze was unstoppable today, leading the Bears with seven receptions and 11 targets, seeing nearly twice as many as DJ Moore (six). Furthermore, he has all three of the Bears’ receiving touchdowns this season, including two earlier today.

Players to Sell

Russell Wilson (QB – NYG)

We got to see vintage Wilson on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. The veteran had 450 passing yards, three touchdowns, and 30.3 fantasy points. Yet, the Giants flirted with playing Jaxson Dart, giving the rookie a few snaps late in the fourth quarter. More importantly, Wilson took advantage of a struggling Dallas defense, as all three of his touchdowns were deep shots of at least 29 yards. Fantasy players should try trading him to the Joe Burrow owner, as the superstar will reportedly miss several weeks with a toe injury.

Rhamondre Stevenson (RB – NE)

Fantasy players should be patient with TreVeyon Henderson. The rookie should see more work as the season progresses. Meanwhile, Stevenson was outstanding in Week 2, totaling 11 rushing attempts for 54 yards, five receptions for 88 receiving yards, and 21.2 PPR fantasy points. Unfortunately, he put up those numbers against an awful Miami Dolphins defense. Furthermore, Stevenson scored 30.7% of his fantasy points from one reception because of blown coverage. Last week, he had two receptions and 21.2 fantasy points. Sell high on the veteran while you can.

Tyreek Hill (WR – MIA)

The Dolphins didn’t get blown out on Sunday like in Week 1. However, Miami still lost, and the offense played horribly at times. Hill had a solid fantasy performance against the New England Patriots with Christian Gonzalez out of the lineup, totaling six receptions on seven targets for 109 receiving yards and 16.9 PPR fantasy points. Yet, fantasy players shouldn’t bet on that type of production moving forward. Therefore, sell high while you can. Reportedly, the Dolphins haven’t received trade calls for Hill and won’t entertain trading him away.

David Njoku (TE – CLE)

Despite his 6.7 PPR fantasy point performance in Week 1, Njoku was a top-five tight end in my rankings this week. Unfortunately, the veteran struggled, totaling eight fantasy points in the loss to the Ravens, where Joe Flacco had 45 pass attempts. Njoku had only five targets, the same as Harold Fannin Jr. and less than Jerome Ford (six). Meanwhile, the Browns could soon turn to Dillon Gabriel. Fantasy players who drafted the veteran and another tight end like Tyler Warren or Tucker Kraft should explore trade offers for Njoku.
