Fantasy Football Burning Questions
Who Gets Moved Ahead of the Trade Deadline?
There hasn’t been much player movement since the start of the season, but that can quickly change with the trade deadline less than a week away (November 4th). There are always surprises this time of year, but among the more notable fantasy players, Breece Hall, Jakobi Meyers and Jauan Jennings have been rumored trade candidates for some time now and could be moved sooner rather than later. Their departure would free up a lot of vacated opportunities, creating significant changes for the team they leave and join.
Is J.J. McCarthy Worse for the Vikings’ offense?
Carson Wentz took a beating in the Vikings’ 37-10 blowout loss, getting sacked five times and re-injuring his shoulder. Earlier this week, the team announced that Wentz will be placed on the season-ending injured reserve (IR) list, set to undergo surgery.
Although he was active as an emergency-only option, second-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy finally looks healthy enough to get back on the field after missing the last five games with a high-ankle sprain. McCarthy may be the best option for Minnesota; however, the offense was abysmal the first two weeks of the season, ranking dead last in expected points added (EPA) per play (-0.31) and EPA per pass (-0.52), averaging a league-low 47.5 plays per game.
Will Joe Flacco Play This Week?
The Bengals blew a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter, giving the Jets their first win of the season in one of the biggest upsets of the weekend. Although he managed to make it through the game, Joe Flacco is currently listed as questionable for Week 9 after suffering an AC joint sprain on his throwing shoulder.
If Flacco is not able to suit up, Jake Browning will likely draw the start, making it hard to feel great about anyone on the offense outside of maybe Ja’Marr Chase. There aren’t many quarterbacks who have been worse than Browning this season, who is ahead of only Cam Ward among signal-callers in total EPA (-49.93) and pass EPA (-53.72).
