Week 4 of the NFL season is behind us, and we saw some devastating injuries to key fantasy football players. While heartbreaking, it provides some backups with the ability to emerge to fantasy relevance. The prepared managers will thrive, and those who don’t adapt will be left behind.

Key Injuries
- Malik Nabers: Knee (ACL); out for the season
- Tyreek Hill: Knee (Dislocation); out for the season
- Trey Benson: Knee (Meniscus); placed on injured reserve (IR) and is out 4-6 weeks.
Most Added Players
Darren Waller (TE – MIA)
Darren Waller’s return was encouraging, given his two touchdowns. In addition, the loss of Tyreek Hill provides additional targets in the Dolphins’ Offense.
Darius Slayton (WR – NYG)
With target hog Malik Nabers going down for the year with an ACL injury, Darius Slayton is in line for additional opportunities in the revived offense under Jaxson Dart. Between Slayton and Wan’Dale Robinson, opportunities for target distribution with the Giants bring Slayton into the Flex discussion
Woody Marks (RB – HOU)
The Woody Marks takeover is upon us. Having called him out as a top add last week, he’s on the verge of a full takeover. While Nick Chubb won’t go away completely, it is clear that the future of the backfield is with Marks.
Kendre Miller (RB – NO)
Kendre Miller showed that he has the explosiveness and skillset to eat into Alvin Kamara‘s workload, as he got 11 carries versus Kamara’s 16. With Kamara trade rumors floating, and Miller showing that he has the skillset to lead this backfield, he is a bench stash with clear RB2 upside moving forward.
Most Dropped Players
Geno Smith (QB – LV)
Geno Smith and the Raiders’ passing game have been abysmal thus far. Thoughts of him being benched and the Kenny Pickett era starting are floating. At this point, Smith is a clear drop/sit, even in Superflex formats
Tyquan Thornton (WR – KC)
The Chiefs’ wide receiver room is surprisingly crowded with the return of Xavier Worthy and Marquise Brown commanding targets; it makes Tyquan Thornton an afterthought. Rashee Rice‘s pending return will further push Thornton down the depth chart.
Tre Tucker (WR – LV)
From a must-add to a clear drop, Tre Tucker’s success is living and dying with Geno Smith’s. Until this Raiders passing game can figure things out, Tucker will be a clear afterthought behind Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers in the limited success they see.
Most Traded Players
A.J. Brown (WR – PHI)
A.J. Brown continues to stay at the top of our trade charts as his ability is undeniable, but usage remains flat. He is a buy-low target for those who have the luxury of waiting until the Eagles figure the passing game out.
Kenneth Walker III (RB – SEA)
With Zach Charbonnet returning to action, the committee is back in effect with the Seahawks. While Kenneth Walker possesses the skillset to be the lead running back, the Seahawks’ commitment to sharing the workload leads Walker to be a frequent trade candidate among fantasy owners.
Ladd McConkey (WR – LAC)
Was 2024 a fluke or reality? We are seeing Ladd McConkey taking the backseat to Quentin Johnston and Keenan Allen, thus putting him into an almost unstartable position. However, we all saw that McConkey can be a league winner as he broke out last year. A change in the offense dynamics or an injury can easily put him back in that place now.
Marvin Harrison Jr. (WR – ARI)
Marvin Harrison Jr. finally had that breakout game that managers were wanting to see, scoring a touchdown and recording six catches on 10 targets. This is allowing those who had kept him to get perhaps 80% on the dollar and ship him out before the next major drop he has.
Final Thoughts
With Week 4 done, we are now hitting the start of bye weeks with four teams out of action in Week 5. Injuries are piling up, opportunities are blooming for replacements and managers must stay ever flexible in their decisions.
