Most Traded Players of Week 5
A.J. Brown (WR – PHI)
A.J. Brown continues to stay at the top of our trade charts as his ability is undeniable, but usage remains flat. He is a buy-low target for those who have the luxury of waiting until the Eagles figure the passing game out.
Erickson’s Thoughts:
Strong usage from the Eagles No. 1 WR….110-plus air yards, 33% target share, but alas it was all for nothing. Just two catches for 7 yards. These dud games are always going to be possible in the current way the Eagles offense is constructed. If you can’t deal…look to flip AJB after a boom game.
Kenneth Walker III (RB – SEA)
With Zach Charbonnet returning to action, the committee is back in effect with the Seahawks. While Kenneth Walker possesses the skillset to be the lead running back, the Seahawks’ commitment to sharing the workload leads Walker to be a frequent trade candidate among fantasy owners.
Erickson’s Thoughts:
True 50/50 split with Charbonnet. 50% snaps to Charbonnet’s 47%. Each drew eight carries in the 1st half. But Walker had the higher total touches (20 to 14) and was more efficient on a per-touch basis. Charbonnet scored the rushing red-zone TD. Had another red-zone TD called back on a holding call. Dominated the red-zone carries as he can sometimes do. Walker is better than Charbonnet (better in every rushing category), but he’s going to remain involved in this backfield in some capacity. Luckily, Seattle’s run-heavy approach – 31st in PROE – provides enough volume for Walker to still produce even in a committee.
Ladd McConkey (WR – LAC)
Was 2024 a fluke or reality? We are seeing Ladd McConkey taking the backseat to Quentin Johnston and Keenan Allen, thus putting him into an almost unstartable position. However, we all saw that McConkey can be a league winner as he broke out last year. A change in the offense dynamics or an injury can easily put him back in that place now.
Erickson’s Thoughts:
After a crazy productive rookie season, Ladd McConkey‘s numbers have tanked. Quentin Johnston‘s breakout and Keenan Allen‘s built-in rapport with Justin Herbert have taken a major toll on the Chargers’ second-year man. I’d like to think that he will turn things around because he’s super talented…but with those other two guys healthy, it’s hard to see after what has transpired over the first four weeks. Now Allen is 33 years old and will likely miss games at some point. That might be the jump start Ladd needs to see a boost in receiving yards and targets. It’s not as if Ladd has not seen any volume, but he hasn’t had as many big plays or found the end zone yet. Considering this looks like rock bottom – 1 catch for 11 yards – I think this is the time to buy while there’s immense panic in the streets. The schedule is good over the next few weeks for him to get going.
Marvin Harrison Jr. (WR – ARI)
Marvin Harrison Jr. finally had that breakout game that managers were wanting to see, scoring a touchdown and recording six catches on 10 targets. This is allowing those who had kept him to get perhaps 80% on the dollar and ship him out before the next major drop he has.
Erickson’s Thoughts:
Brutal 1st half, but rebounded in a big way in the second half on Thursday night. Still, the inconsistencies with Kyler Murray are impossible to ignore. The usage and overall involvement (air yards, targets, red-zone usage) gives MHJ a high-weekly floor, but the ceiling can only be unlocked if he and Murray can really connect. If you want out I don’t blame you. But I don’t think you’ll get a worthwhile deal if I am being honest. Hold
