NHL Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Advice (Week 8)

(Rosterships courtesy of ESPN)

Anthony Cirelli (F – TB) | 58.1% Rostered

The Lightning boast arguably the best top-six forward group in the NHL, so anytime I can scoop up one of those skaters, I’m going to do it. Anthony Cirelli has to be one of the most underrated centers in the league.

Cirelli enters the new week ranked fourth on the team in scoring (eight goals, six assists), and I expect his production to continue since he’s currently centering a line featuring Brandon Hagel and Nikita Kucherov. The centerman also gets time on the second power-play unit, which is where two of his eight goals have occurred this season.

Jake Neighbours (F – STL) | 27.9% Rostered

St. Louis’ Jake Neighbours just returned from a leg injury, where he made an immediate impact by registering an assist in a 3-2 overtime loss to Philadelphia on Thursday. The left winger is on my shortlist of streaming options for when there’s a light slate and the Blues have a decent matchup.

Neighbours is slotting in on the Blues’ top line, playing alongside the crafty Robert Thomas (who is also surprisingly only rostered in 60.5% of ESPN leagues). He’s up to eight points (six goals, two assists) in 10 games, while also averaging 1.3 shots on goal per game (SOG/G) and 2.5 hits per game. If Neighbours continues drawing first-line minutes, he’s worth a flier moving forward.

Braeden Bowman (F – VGK) | 9.5% Rostered

The Golden Knights are banged up at the moment, with both Mark Stone (wrist) and William Karlsson (lower-body) sidelined for the foreseeable future. These injuries have allowed an opportunity for undrafted rookie Braeden Bowman to come storming onto the scene.

In six games with the squad, the right winger, who’s playing on the top line and the first power-play unit, has netted four goals and dished out one assist. Bowman is also averaging 2.2 SOG/G. With top centerman Jack Eichel (10 goals, 19 assists) playing out of his mind, Bowman is worth picking up as a short-term option. Heck, maybe the 22-year-old will continue lighting it up and force the front office to keep him with the big league team.

Eric Comrie (G – WPG) | 12.3% Rostered

Three-time and reigning back-to-back Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck will be sidelined 4-6 weeks with a knee injury, which means we’ll be seeing a lot more of Eric Comrie moving forward.

Should we expect Vezina numbers out of Comrie? Probably not. But with an intact defensive core and two fantastic defensive centermen in Adam Lowry and Jonathan Toews, Comrie is in a good spot to excel.

The 30-year-old has a career GAA of 3.09 and SV% of .898, which is roughly on par with his 2.84 GAA and .899 SV% in 2025-26. Comrie’s goals saved above average per 60 minutes (GSAA/60) is 0.318, which isn’t overpowering, but is at least on the plus side of things compared to 25 netminders in the negative this season.
