Dynasty Fantasy Football Risers

Chris Olave (WR – NO)

After posting back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in his first two years in the NFL, Chris Olave’s value took a tumble after a forgettable season last year that included nine missed games. After posting 148 yards on Sunday, Olave is back over the 1,000-yard mark on the season, while his two touchdown grabs bring him up to eight this year.

Olave’s 36.8 fantasy points are the highest mark of his career and move him to WR8 in points per game (PPG) on the season. Olave has scored five touchdowns in the eight games Tyler Shough has started at quarterback. The 26-year-old rookie’s play has aided Olave and the Saints’ improvements on offense.

Tyler Shough (QB – NO)

It’s only right that Tyler Shough also cracks the list as he’s been a big part of Chris Olave’s recent rise. It’s not as if Shough has dominated, but he’s topped 17 fantasy points in five of his last six games while completing 65% of his passes in each of those contests. He has thrown six touchdowns in that time span and has run for a couple, showing off his athleticism and ability to pick up yardage on the ground.

Perhaps, most importantly, Shough has led the Saints to three straight wins and four wins in the last six games, not only making a strong case to claim the job for next season but also pushing the Saints further down the draft board and likely out of the quarterback range.

Parker Washington (WR – JAX)

Former sixth-round pick Parker Washington had a career day on Sunday with six receptions for 145 yards and a touchdown en route to 26.5 fantasy points. He led the Jaguars with 10 targets and finished Sunday as the WR3 on the week. Although this is undoubtedly Washington’s high point of the season, he’s been a factor all year long.

Dating back to Week 9, following Travis Hunter‘s season-ending injury, Washington is the fantasy WR22 in PPG, which includes his 3.6-point total in Week 13 when he left in the first half with a hip injury. If we remove that game, his PPG average jumps from 13.6 to 15.3, and places him as the WR18 during that span.

Omarion Hampton (RB – LAC)

Kimani Vidal continued to split the snaps with Omarion Hampton before Vidal’s injury early in the fourth quarter, but Hampton has carried the ball at a higher rate and has shown his chops as the more explosive back.

Hampton rushed 16 times for 85 yards and a touchdown, adding one reception for 10 yards and tallying 16.5 fantasy points. Vidal, on the other hand, rushed five times for just 11 yards. With Hampton fully back to form and Vidal banged up, I’d anticipate Hampton to continue increasing his workload.

Kenneth Gainwell (RB – IT)

It was Jaylen Warren who broke loose for a couple of late-game touchdown scampers, but Kenneth Gainwell was the better back to that point and continues to be the team’s best pass-catcher. He ran nine times for 50 yards and caught five passes for 78 yards, including a miraculous touchdown grab down the sideline.

Gainwell has now topped 15 PPR fantasy points in five of his last six games and has posted at least 25 receiving yards in each of those games. He’s on a one-year contract, but Gainwell has shown his potential as a dual-threat running back and can continue to be a weapon into the future.

Tre’ Harris (WR – LAC)

Sunday marked the second straight week Tre’ Harris drew five targets as his role in the offense continues to grow. He caught four passes for 54 yards after snagging three for 49 a week ago. His 54 yards are his highest mark of the season. While it came against a leaky Cowboys secondary, he tied for second on the team in targets with Keenan Allen and Quentin Johnston.

Harris has pulled further ahead of fellow rookie KeAndre Lambert-Smith throughout the season and looks to be on track for a larger role next season.

Dynasty Fantasy Football Fallers

Bucky Irving (RB – TB)

To be clear, Bucky Irving is supremely talented and one of my favorite running backs to watch. His role, however, is leaving a bit to be desired. He ran 19 times for 71 yards on Sunday but failed to record a target and ceded the goal line work to Sean Tucker, who fell into the end zone on one of his four carries. Irving played 63% of the offensive snaps, and his 19 carries were 10 more than Tucker and Rachaad White‘s nine combined rush attempts.

The issue is that Irving isn’t scoring touchdowns, and his receiving work has withered away since his return from injury in Week 13. In the first four games of the season, before injury, Irving caught 19 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns. In his four games since returning, he’s totaled just five catches for 57 yards and one score. His efficiency has taken a hit, which is problematic without the goal line or receiving work. There’s a chance both Tucker and White leave in free agency this offseason, but assuming the coaching staff returns, it’s likely the Buccaneers will continue to prioritize a committee approach to the backfield.

Khalil Shakir (WR – BUF)

Coming off 821 receiving yards last season and entering this year as the Bills’ supposed No. 1 WR, Khalil Shakir seemed to be in line for a big season. With a heavy rotation at wide receiver and a reliance on the running game, Shakir’s outlook has never been muddier. He’s capable of big games, but his ceiling is lower than it once was, while his floor might as well be underground.

For example, Shakir caught one pass for -3 yards in Week 11 against a dreadful Tampa Bay secondary before going for 110 yards on eight grabs against a stellar Texans defense. He followed that game up with one catch for five yards against the Steelers and has posted yardage totals of 16, 65 and 34 in his three games since. Even when he leads the team in targets, as he has the past couple of weeks, it’s not amounting to much production. The Bills are in desperate need of an offseason makeover at the receiver position.

C.J. Stroud (QB – HOU)

Every so often, it appears C.J. Stroud is regaining his rookie season form that put him on the map. That was the case last week when Stroud delivered 23.4 fantasy points against the Cardinals, tossing 22 completions on 29 attempts for 260 yards and three touchdowns.

This week, we saw Stroud regress, yet again, as he threw for just 187 yards and a touchdown on 22-of-35 passing for 11.48 fantasy points. Before the big game in Week 15, Stroud posted scores of just 9.04 and 12.62 fantasy points in his two previous games. He can’t seem to sustain any sort of momentum and is becoming unreliable, even in 2-QB leagues.

Jake Ferguson (TE – DAL)

Even in the Cowboys’ high-powered offense, there’s not enough to go around for Jake Ferguson when CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens are eating, particularly with the emergence of Ryan Flournoy.

Ferguson caught just three passes for 19 yards this week after going two for 16 last week, and he hasn’t found the end zone since Week 11. He will have fantasy value and spike weeks as long as he remains the starting tight end in a good offense, but he’s not much of a target-earner and is becoming less reliable.

Ben Sinnott (TE – WSH)

Although Ben Sinnott hasn’t carried a whole lot of value this season, many were high on him as a rookie prospect last season. With the injury to Zach Ertz, Sinnott has had an opportunity to show he’s capable of a larger role a year after Washington selected him in the second round.

Instead, Sinnott has caught one pass in each of the last three games, tallying just five yards this week. Those still holding out hope for Sinnott may want to find another sleeper to stash on the end of their bench.
