7 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups: Deep Leagues (Week 14)

Doing your weekly waivers in fantasy football can be more stressful than performing life-saving surgery on a loved one without any professional tools or medical knowledge. While that might be a slight exaggeration, deciding which players to add off the waiver wire each week can be stressful.

Finding and adding the right guys in shallow leagues is simple, as there are plenty of appealing options, and the waiver wire is full of talent. Unfortunately, making your waiver wire claims in deeper leagues can be a massive pain in the neck.

However, I’m here to help by giving fantasy players seven waiver wire targets they should add in deeper leagues in Week 14.

Deep League Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets

All the players in this article are rostered in under 25% of ESPN leagues.

Bryce Young (QB – CAR): 11.7% Rostered

Unfortunately, Young has his bye in Week 14. However, fantasy players planning for the playoffs should add the former Alabama star off the waiver wire. He has been inconsistent this season, scoring single-digit fantasy points in three of the past five games. Yet, Young has been outstanding in two of the past three games, averaging 327 passing yards, three touchdowns, and 27.2 fantasy points per contest in those two outings, totaling 22.5 or more in both matchups. More importantly, the former Alabama star has an appealing fantasy playoff schedule.

Tyler Shough (QB – NO): 5.3% Rostered

The former Louisville star has been solid since taking over as the Saints’ starting quarterback. Shough has averaged 235 passing yards, 1.3 touchdowns, and 13.8 fantasy points per game during his four starts. However, he has played well against fantasy-friendly defenses, averaging 260.5 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 18.2 fantasy points per game in those two matchups, including last week against the Miami Dolphins. More importantly, Shough faces the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, and Tennessee Titans over the final four weeks of the fantasy season.

Blake Corum (RB – LAR): 12.6% Rostered

Finding running backs off the waiver wire is difficult in standard-size leagues, let alone deeper ones. However, Corum is worth adding in all leagues, even if you don’t have Kyren Williams on your roster. The veteran missed part of Sunday’s loss with an ankle injury. While Williams returned to the game, Corum was outstanding, totaling seven rushing attempts for 81 yards, a touchdown, and 14.1 PPR fantasy points, setting season highs in yards and fantasy points. Furthermore, he has averaged 10 rushing attempts per game over his past six contests.

Andrei Iosivas (WR –  CIN): 10.6% Rostered

Hopefully, Tee Higgins can play on Sunday after missing last week’s game with a concussion. However, Iosivas is a must-add for those with Higgins on their roster. He has had five receptions on nine targets for 90 receiving yards, a touchdown, and 20.5 PPR fantasy points over the past two weeks with the Bengals missing one of their star wide receivers, totaling at least 9.9 fantasy points in both outings. Iosivas is a borderline must-start flex option against this week if Higgins misses his second consecutive game with the concussion.

Adonai Mitchell (WR – NYJ): 2.7% Rostered

New York will be without Garrett Wilson for at least one more week because of a knee injury. Therefore, Mitchell will be the No. 1 wide receiver for at least one more game. Last week, he had eight receptions on 12 targets for 102 receiving yards, a touchdown, and 24.2 PPR fantasy points, setting season-highs in every category. Furthermore, Mitchell has averaged 8.3 targets per game since being traded to the Jets, totaling six or more in every outing. The former Texas star is also an underrated dynasty trade target.

Isaac TeSlaa (WR – DET): 0.9% Rostered

Last week, Amon-Ra St. Brown suffered a low-ankle sprain early in the Thanksgiving loss to the Green Bay Packers. Thankfully, the superstar shouldn’t miss significant time, but likely won’t play against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night. Meanwhile, Sam LaPorta is out for the year, leaving Jameson Williams as Jared Goff’s only proven pass catcher. Yet, TeSlaa has shined at times during his rookie season, including last week. More importantly, the Cowboys are an excellent matchup for him, surrendering 40.1 PPR fantasy points per game to wide receivers this year.

Isaiah Likely (TE – BAL): 7.4% Rostered

Likely hasn’t had much fantasy success this season, averaging 3.2 PPR fantasy points per game over the first 12 weeks. However, he is coming off his best performance this year, totaling five receptions on six targets for 95 receiving yards and 12.5 fantasy points, setting season highs in every category. While Likely was facing an awful Cincinnati Bengals pass defense, he has an outstanding upcoming schedule. Likely faces the Pittsburgh Steelers, Bengals, and New England Patriots over the next three weeks. All three teams have struggled to defend tight ends.
