Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups: Wide Receivers & Tight Ends

Week 15 is almost in the books, and with that, it’s time to look ahead to Week 16 and which players we should look to pick up at the wide receiver and tight end positions off the fantasy football waiver wire.

See below for my top fantasy football waiver wire pickups ahead of Week 16.

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets

All players listed below are rostered in 30% or fewer of Yahoo! leagues.

WR Handcuffs, Targets & Stashes

Luther Burden III (WR – CHI) | 17% Rostered

Perhaps this will be the week his rostership percentage increases. It’s still at 17% and in another game with Rome Odunze out after re-aggravating his stress fracture, Luther Burden caught six of his seven targets for 84 yards.

This season, in situations where Odunze isn’t on the field, Burden leads the Bears with a 24.1% target share. He needs to be picked up and started at Flex if Odunze misses more time.

Adonai Mitchell (WR – NYJ) | 16% Rostered

Adonai Mitchell caught six of his nine targets for 58 yards and a touchdown in the Jets’ 28-point loss to the Jaguars. Thankfully, in fantasy football, all we’re worried about are stats.

The Jets will be trailing in every game the rest of the fantasy season, with the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots on the docket. Mitchell should benefit from garbage time production galore.

Devaughn Vele (WR – NO) | 14% Rostered

Devaughn Vele saw a dip in rostership, and this week, against the Panthers, he caught five passes for 69 yards. He was second on the team in target share at 19.4%. He’s a solid Flex play in PPR leagues.

Jalen Coker (WR – CAR) | 4% Rostered

Over the Panthers’ last three games, Jalen Coker is first on the team in target share (20.9%), catching 11 out of 14 targets for 166 yards and two touchdowns.

In Week 15 alone, Coker caught four passes for 60 yards and a touchdown and was tied with Tommy Tremble in target share at 20%. He should have a slightly easier matchup next week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a must-win game for both squads.

Mack Hollins (WR – NE) | 3% Rostered

Mack Hollins appears to be the receiver to roster on the Patriots’ offense right now. In a loss to the Buffalo Bills, he led the team in target share at 36.4%, catching four of his eight targets for 41 yards. Over the last three games, he’s second in target share (21.2%).

Fellow wide receiver Stefon Diggs has only run a route on 56.7% of Drake Maye‘s dropbacks over that span. He’s not on the field enough to trust him, and Hollins is benefiting.

TE Handcuffs, Targets & Stashes

Chig Okonkwo (TE – TEN) | 16% Rostered

Over his last three games, Chig Okonkwo has caught 10 of his 13 targets for 82 yards. In Week 15, he caught four passes for 33 yards in a loss to the 49ers.

With how up-and-down the tight end position is, especially with Tyler Warren‘s value lowered because of the Colts’ quarterback situation, Okonkwo is a decent tight end option.

AJ Barner (TE – SEA) | 12% Rostered

AJ Barner caught three out of six targets for 27 yards in the Seahawks’ 18-16 win over the Colts. He’s tied with Rashid Shaheed for second on the team in target share (17.4%) over their last three games, catching 10 passes for 89 yards.

Colby Parkinson (TE – LAR) | 4% Rostered

In the Rams’ 41-34 win over the Lions, Colby Parkinson caught five out of seven targets for 75 yards and two touchdowns. One of his touchdowns probably should’ve been called back, but hey, a touchdown is a touchdown.

Wide receiver Davante Adams injured his hamstring. His status for next week is unknown. However, if he’s out, Parkinson could continue to step up as a solid receiving option for quarterback Matthew Stafford as he pushes for the MVP award.

Dawson Knox (TE – BUF) | 3% Rostered

Dawson Knox has been a non-factor for most of the time Dalton Kincaid has been on the roster, but over their last three games, he’s been more involved, leading the team in target share (19.7%), catching 12 out of 15 targets for 158 yards and two scores.

Knox is coming off three straight good matchups and has a harder one next week against the Browns, but he’s still worth a waiver wire pickup as the Bills push for an AFC East title.
