Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups: FAAB Suggestions

Connor Prielipp (SP – MIN)

Connor Prielipp was picked up in 60 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $133 and a minimum bid of $25. Prielipp is a top-100 prospect who debuted last week for the Twins after Mick Abel hit the injured list (IL).

Prielipp has a fantastic slider and a very good fastball. He also has good command, but can struggle with control. The Twins prospect is a must-pick-up in most formats because of his high strikeout upside.

Nathan Church (OF – STL)

Nathan Church was picked up in 57 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $111 and a minimum bid of $22. Church had a massive weekend, hitting three home runs in two games. He has been on fire, hitting .382/.410/.765 with four home runs and three stolen bases over the last two weeks.

Church isn’t a power hitter, but he can be an accumulator if he plays regularly. However, he has been mostly a platoon player, which limits his upside, and the Cardinals have some good outfield prospects who will likely be up at some point, which could further limit his playing time.

Ronny Mauricio (2B, 3B – NYM)

Ronny Mauricio was picked up in 56 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $85 and a minimum bid of $5. The Mets called him up to replace Francisco Lindor, who was placed on the IL.

Mauricio has struggled in his Major League samples, but he was hot in Triple-A, slashing .293/.349/.638 with six home runs and five stolen bases in 63 plate appearances. He is an extremely aggressive hitter. When he is hot at the plate, you want him on your team, but he will cool down. When that happens, he will be unusable.

Jack Perkins (SP, RP – ATH)

Jack Perkins was picked up in 55 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $139 and a minimum bid of $14.

Perkins got two saves last week for the A’s, which was surprising considering it appeared that Joel Kuhnel was the lead candidate for saves in Sacramento. This looks like a messy committee situation, but for now, Perkins is the top option.

Nathaniel Lowe (1B, DH – CIN)

Nathaniel Lowe was picked up in 52 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $84 and a minimum bid of $1. He has been on a heater, hitting four home runs over the last three games.

Lowe has a good hit tool, but he is inconsistent. He is being very aggressive in the zone, but that will likely lead to problems down the road. If he struggles, he will lose playing time.

JR Ritchie (SP – ATL)

JR Ritchie was picked up in 43 Main Event leagues with a max bid of $291 and a minimum bid of $91. Ritchie is another top-100 prospect who made his debut and looked good in his first start.

Ritchie doesn’t have top-of-the-rotation upside, but he has a decent floor with five pitches and good command. He should be in the rotation for a while, but he will need to pitch well to stay there.
