Welcome back to the latest edition of our weekly fantasy baseball Closer Report. We are officially past the one-month mark of the season as we enter the first week of May.
We are continuing to see closers drop like flies with injuries, while other closers are nearing their return from previous injuries. This is a position with constant change on a near-daily basis.

Closer News & Notes
- Mason Miller continues to lead the way in saves with 10 on the season. He did allow his first earned runs of the season, but they came in a non-save situation.
- Lucas Erceg has taken hold of the closer role in Kansas City with eight saves on the season. Carlos Estevez is nearing the start of a rehab assignment, making this a situation to monitor once activated.
- Raisel Iglesias is on track to be activated by the Braves next week. He should return to his closer role.
- The Blue Jays moved to a committee approach at closer following Jeff Hoffman‘s struggles, and it now appears that Louis Varland has fully taken over the role. He has posted a 0.53 ERA over 17 innings with four saves.
- The struggles for Kenley Jansen have continued with blown saves across his past two appearances. Kyle Finnegan registered the last save chance for Detroit. This will be a bullpen to monitor next time the Tigers are leading by three runs or fewer in the ninth inning.
- Ryan Helsley was placed on the injured list (IL) with right elbow inflammation. That’s a big loss to the Orioles’ bullpen.
- Pete Fairbanks was placed on the IL with nerve irritation. The Marlins’ bullpen becomes much tougher to trust.
