Smash Spots
Jesus Luzardo (SP – PHI) vs. COL
Jesus Luzardo is coming off an absolutely dominant start against the Giants. Up next is another smash spot against one of the most strikeout-prone lineups in the Majors.
Eury Perez (SP – MIA) vs. BAL
Eury Perez is a totally different pitcher at home. The Orioles have some power in their lineup, but they’ve been largely inconsistent, so they’re not a matchup to fear right now.
Cole Ragans (SP – KC) vs. CLE
Cole Ragans put it together in his last start, showing you the upside that made him my favorite pick to win the American League Cy Young Award. Bet on another quality outing with a high strikeout upside versus the Guardians.
Risky Starts
Chase Burns (SP – CIN) vs. HOU
Chase Burns has looked terrific this year, but pitching in a hitter’s park against Yordan Alvarez and company is risky. While you’re still starting him, you don’t feel totally comfortable about it.
Tyler Glasnow (SP – LAD) @ HOU
Tyler Glasnow has been awesome so far this season, pitching deep into games and showing improved command. But like Chase Burns, we have to tread with caution against the Astros. Don’t bench him, but I can’t rank Glasnow too high this week.
Chris Sale (SP – ATL) @ LAD
Chris Sale has gotten on track, coming off a dominant start, but anytime you’re on the road against the Dodgers, there’s some level of concern. Even for pitching aces.
Two-Start Pitchers
Sandy Alcantara (SP – MIA) vs. BAL, vs. WSH
Sandy Alcantara hit a rough patch, but look for him to bounce back in a big way in two exploitable matchups at home against the Orioles and the Nationals.
Cade Cavalli (SP – WSH) vs. MIN, @ MIA
Cade Cavalli found his command and has been racking up strikeouts ever since, including 10 against the Braves and nine versus the Mets. Perfect timing for a two-start week.
Michael Wacha (SP – KC) vs. CLE, vs. DET
Michael Wacha isn’t flashy or anything, but he’s worth starting in the right spots, such as this two-start week (vs. the Guardians and Tigers).
