Closer News & Notes

  • Mason Miller takes back the league-high in saves following a four-out save against the Mariners on Friday.
  • Riley O’Brien and Bryan Baker continue to take clear hold of the closer role in their respective bullpens.
  • The Brewers’ bullpen is one to monitor as Abner Uribe pitched in the eighth inning and Trevor Megill recorded his fifth save of the season in the ninth inning on Friday. This has been a situation that has gone back and forth between the two early in the season.
  • Jeff Hoffman entered a tie game in the ninth inning on Friday and allowed a walk-off single. Louis Varland continues to take a firmer hold on that closer role.
  • Pete Fairbanks was activated from the injured list (IL) earlier this week. He remains the clear closer in the Marlins’ bullpen.
  • Emilio Pagan was placed on the IL with a left hamstring strain. He is expected to miss 4-8 weeks. The closer situation is uncertain now in the Reds’ bullpen.
