Overvalued Fantasy Football Players to Avoid on MFL
Jeremiyah Love (RB – ARI) | MFL ADP: RB9
When I researched overvalued players on MFL last month, Jeremiyah Love was one of the players. And in July, he’s still overvalued, going off the board as the RB9 in MFL drafts. His draft cost is too high.
Love has all the talent in the world, and sure, maybe his receiving ability will pay huge dividends, but this is going to be a tough offense to work within to achieve the goals of being a top-10 fantasy football running back. The depth chart includes talent like Tyler Allgeier, who signed a sizable contract, as well as James Conner and Trey Benson.
I also don’t quite trust the offensive line. The Cardinals’ running backs have struggled over the last few seasons, and this is too lofty a goal. Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty was the RB13 in his rookie season, with 55 receptions and more than 320 total touches.
Love is a fringe-RB1, though that could change if anything happens to the other running backs.
Marvin Harrison Jr. (WR – ARI) | MFL ADP: WR27
After highlighting one Cardinals player, I suppose I need to highlight another.
Marvin Harrison Jr. has had a rough start to his NFL career, and being on the Cardinals isn’t helping. Last season, with Jacoby Brissett as his signal-caller, he was third on the team in target share behind Trey McBride and Michael Wilson. Harrison caught 21 of the 42 passes thrown by Brissett for 302 yards and two touchdowns.
Harrison and Brissett weren’t on the same page while Wilson and McBride dominated. Now, it appears Brissett will be the starting quarterback at least for the beginning of the season, and they also have Love to lean on as a runner and in the passing game. Even at his WR27 ADP, I’m skeptical of drafting Harrison.
Brian Thomas Jr. (WR – JAX) | MFL ADP: WR24
This could be recency bias from how much he hurt one of my main fantasy teams last year, but it’s hard to trust Brian Thomas Jr. as a WR2 in PPR leagues.
The Jaguars’ roster will be in its second year under Liam Coen, which will help. There’s also one fewer pass-catcher with Travis Etienne Jr. gone, but this team still has quality pass-catchers like Jakobi Meyers, Parker Washington and Brenton Strange.
In situations where Meyers was on the field for the Jaguars last season, Thomas’s target share was third on the team at under 17%. That’s not a terrible number by any means, but he only caught 18 out of 30 targets for 287 yards and scored once.
Depending on the size of your league, relying on a receiver who may be second in the pecking order, at best, as your WR2 is too risky.
