Friday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings (7/31)
Dylan Cease is white-hot. According to FanGraphs, in his previous four starts spanning 30 innings, the righty ace has spun the following numbers:
- 3 wins
- 4 quality starts
- 1 shutout
- 0.90 ERA
- 2.10 xERA
- 2.73 xFIP
- 2.63 SIERA
- 0.67 WHIP
- 7.4% walk rate
- 36.1% strikeout rate
- 12.7% SwStr%
- 31.3% CSW%
- 109 stuff+
- 104 location+
- 109 pitching+
Cease has a sweet matchup and tasty betting info tonight. The Cardinals are tied for 24th in wRC+ (94) with a 21.3% strikeout rate versus righties and 10th in wRC+ (101) with a 21.4% strikeout rate on the road in 2026.
St. Louis is also dead last in wRC+ (75) with a 20.6% strikeout rate in the previous 30 days and dead last in wRC+ (68) with a 19.3% strikeout rate in the previous 14 days. The Blue Jays are -170 favorites, and the game’s total is eight runs.
Like Cease, Yoshinobu Yamamoto is in superb form. In his last four starts, totaling 28 innings, the righty has logged the following stats:
- 3 wins
- 3 quality starts
- 1 complete game
- 2.89 ERA
- 2.10 xERA
- 3.54 xFIP
- 3.72 SIERA
- 0.93 WHIP
- 8.3% walk rate
- 25.9% strikeout rate
- 10.1% SwStr%
- 28.1% CSW%
- 100 stuff+
- 103 location+
- 104 pitching+
Yamamoto’s matchup is mixed. The Red Sox are tied for 28th in wRC+ (87) with a 22.5% strikeout rate versus righties but seventh in wRC+ (103) with a 22.6% strikeout rate on the road this year. Boston is also tied for 12th in wRC+ (104) with a 23% strikeout rate in the previous 30 days. Nevertheless, Yamamoto has a high ceiling, making him an attractive GPP option.
Shane Drohan has spent time in Milwaukee’s bullpen and their rotation, and he’s been rock-solid if unlucky as a starter. In 11 starts spanning 57.1 innings this season, the lefty has amassed the following numbers:
- 3 wins
- 4 quality starts
- 4.24 ERA
- 3.74 xERA
- 3.98 xFIP
- 4.03 SIERA
- 1.31 WHIP
- 7.8% walk rate
- 23% strikeout rate
- 11.4% SwStr%
- 27.9% CSW%
- 99 stuff+
- 99 location+
- 96 pitching+
Drohan has a mostly favorable matchup. The Angels are tied for 10th in wRC+ (100) with a 25.7% strikeout rate versus lefties and 30th in wRC+ (81) with a 25.6% strikeout rate at home this season.
They are also 28th in wRC+ (82) with a 25.1% strikeout rate in the previous 30 days. The Brewers are -165 favorites, but the game’s total is a somewhat alarming nine runs. Still, Drohan is an excellent SP2 in all game types on DraftKings.
Suggested Lineup Stacks
Michael Wacha‘s 4.07 ERA in 73 innings on the road this year is nothing to write home about, and his 4.54 xFIP is even uglier. The veteran righty is also in putrid form, with a 4.94 ERA, 5.74 xERA, 5.20 xFIP and 4.85 ERA in his previous four starts.
Those marks won’t cut it at Coors Field, and the Rockies have the firepower to rough him up. Kansas City’s bullpen also ranks 29th in ERA (5.31) this year.
RosterResource projects German Marquez to toe the slab for the Padres tonight. The 31-year-old righty has started 10 games and made one relief appearance this year. He has been beaten to the tune of a 5.17 ERA, 5.61 xERA, 5.50 xFIP and 5.29 SIERA.
Marquez has ceded a .311 wOBA to 90 right-handed batters and .423 wOBA to 121 left-handed batters in 2026, making San Francisco’s lefties, righties and switch-hitters compelling stacking choices.

Core Studs

- Cole Carrigg has drilled two dingers with 15 runs, 14 RBI, one stolen base, a .411 OBP, .234 ISO, .423 wOBA and 143 wRC+ in 74 plate appearances at home in his first taste of the Majors.
- Luis Arraez has hit four homers with 52 runs, 43 RBI, 10 stolen bases, a .364 OBP, .119 ISO, .349 wOBA and 122 wRC+ in 456 plate appearances this season.

- Griffin Conine is having a breakout campaign at the dish and is underpriced at both DFS providers. He’s ripped nine round-trippers with 19 runs, 20 RBI, two stolen bases, a .351 OBP, .276 ISO, .384 wOBA and 142 wRC+ in 131 plate appearances this season.
- Bryce Eldridge has hit 11 homers with 35 runs, 26 RBI, one stolen base, a .353 OBP, .198 ISO, .352 wOBA and 124 wRC+ in 275 plate appearances this year.
