Austin Ekeler (RB - LAC)
Wed, Oct 2
Player Note on Austin Ekeler (RB - LAC)
Ekeler will likely resume his role similar to last years in a less favorable time share with Gordon. He'll likely see around 30-40% of snaps and while this is not a desirable number for an RB2, Denver has given up an average of 25.2 fantasy points to running backs this year so this is room for both Ekeler and Gordon in this matchup.
Josh Jacobs (RB - OAK)
Wed, Oct 2
Player Note on Josh Jacobs (RB - OAK)
In a matchup among one of the worst in the NFL, Jacobs' upside here is very minimal. Oakland's implied point total in this game is only 15, so Jacobs could very likely be touchdown or bust in this game.
Marlon Mack (RB - IND)
Wed, Oct 2
Player Note on Marlon Mack (RB - IND)
Many are high on Mack this week, however with an injury lingering and knowing the game script in Kansas City is not likely to be favorable to Mack given his 6 targets through 4 games, I am less inclined to believe there is RB1 potential here. If he plays, slot him in as a middling RB2.
Melvin Gordon (RB - LAC)
Wed, Oct 2
Player Note on Melvin Gordon (RB - LAC)
No one is really sure at this point how the workload between Ekeler and Gordon is going to be split. Some are concerned that Gordon won't be "thrown in" to a full workload immediately and the Chargers might elect to go with something like a 60/40 or even 50/50 split. I am less concerned but still willing to trust Gordon as a fringe RB1 or solid RB2 as even last year when returning from injury, Gordon came back to 67% snap rate and 15 touches in week 16.
Joe Mixon (RB - CIN)
Wed, Oct 2
Player Note on Joe Mixon (RB - CIN)
If there is any game for the Bengals offense to get back on track it's this one, however, the Cardinals defense currently ranks 18th in fantasy points against to RB's. I expect there to be scoring opportunities for Mixon in this game, but I might be somewhat concerned about the yardage floor.
Leonard Fournette (RB - JAC)
Wed, Oct 2
Player Note on Leonard Fournette (RB - JAC)
Given his usage as a workhorse back and a plus matchup with the Panthers one weakness on defense being their run defense, I expect Fournette to be a rather safe mid to low end RB1 this week.
David Montgomery (RB - CHI)
Tue, Oct 1
Player Note on David Montgomery (RB - CHI)
David Montgomery has had his snap rate and targets per game steadily increase since his disappointing usage in week 1 vs. the Packers. This provides optimism for starting him as an RB2, however, with limited upside on the road vs the 13th ranked defense in fantasy points against to running backs and Chase Daniel now leading the offense.
