Travis Wood being considered by the Yankees

by Chris Zolli | Tue, Feb 7th 7:22pm EST

Free agent RP Travis Wood has been considered by many teams this offseason and the Yankees are the most recent suitor. Wood is being looked at as both a reliever and a starter and the Yankees could use him in both roles considering their lack of depth in the rotation. He had a 4-0 record and 2.95 ERA with the Cubs last season. (Jon Heyman on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Wood was a key part of the Cubs' bullpen in 2016 and was an All-Star SP with the Cubs in 2013. He only made nine starts with the Cubs in 2015, and limped to a 5.03 ERA and 1.53 WHIP in 31 starts in 2014, so many teams have considered him as a reliever this offseason. Wood has only topped 200 innings pitched in a season once, so he probably should be a swing man at the most, but his 1.27 career WHIP is valuable.
