Mike Hauschild goes two scoreless innings against Padres Friday

by Steve Painter | Fri, Mar 24th 10:04pm EDT

Mike Hauschild, among those once contending for a spot in the starting rotation for the Rangers, pitched two scoreless innings against the Padres Friday. He allowed one hit and no runs while walking none and striking out four. Rangers' coach Jeff Banister said that he really likes Hauschild's effectiveness out of the bullpen, which effectively ends the quest for a spot in the rotation. Hauschild has pitched fairly good this spring, but it seems A.J. Griffin is likely to be named the fifth starter to begin the season.

Fantasy Impact:

Working out of the pen puts a severe damper on your fantasy value and such is the case for Hauschild. But remember his name, because you never know when the stars might align that you will need a spot starter and boom! he gets the call.
