The Seattle Mariners continue to field calls on shortstops Brad Miller and Chris Taylor. According to Bob Dutton's source, Miller was included in a proposed Matt Kemp trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers. (The Tacoma News Tribune)
Fantasy Impact:
Brad Miller had a disappointing season for owners who had invested in the youngster as their starting shortstop. After beating out Nick Franklin for the starting role, Miller struggled out of the gate, hitting .155 with only 3 home runs as the calendar turned to June. Miller did show signs of life as the season progressed with an .867 OPS in June, along with a .903 & .889 OPS in August & September. Among shortstops with at least 400 plate appearances last season, Miller's ISO (isolated slugging percentage) of .144, ranked 8th. During the three months Miller hit like a star shortstop, his ISO percentages checked in at .214, .273 & .235, respectively. Assuming Miller lands a starting role somewhere next season, he's a prime buy-low target, who could conceivably end up a top-10 shortstop.
