Clay Buchholz in contact with Rangers

by Forrest Vickery | Mon, Jan 21st 8:52pm EST

Jon Heyman reports that the Rangers have been in contact with right handed pitcher Clay Buchholz. The Texas native is coming off a resurgent season with the Diamondbacks where he put up a 2.01 ERA in 98 1/3 innings over 16 starts and would seemingly slot right in behind Mike Minor and Lance Lynn in the rotation. Fantasy Impact:

Buchholz has been the poster child for an up and down career with him earning two All-Star selections and then following them up with ERAs of 4.56 and 5.34 respectively. His 2018 season with the Diamondbacks cannot be ignored though after having a 2.01 ERA in 16 starts. If he signs with the tanking Rangers, he could be a player to keep an eye on with capable arms being much needed in Arlington.
