In his first plate appearance of the new year, David Bote was hit in the head by a fastball from San Francisco Giants starter Madison Bumgarner. (Jordan Bastian on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Bote was able to get up and walk off under his own power, and, according to MLB.com's Jordan Bastian, was checked out by the Giants' doctor before returning to the Cubs' facilities. Their initial tests "showed nothing alarming," but he will undergo further testing before any timeline is determined. Hopefully he won't be forced to miss much time, and will still be in line to make the Opening Day roster.
