Edwin Encarnacion traded to New York Yankees

First baseman/designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion has been traded from the Seattle Mariners to the New York Yankees, according to a report from MLB insider Jeff Passan. (Jeff Passan on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

While the move makes sense with the Mariners looking to continue moving towards a full rebuild, the timing is strange since Encarnacion has missed the last three games with a back injury. That injury is supposedly minor, however, and Encarnacion currently leads the American League with 21 home runs. While the Yankees have been winning with a series of replacement players due to a number of injuries, they will have one of the most formidable lineups in baseball once both Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton return from the injured list.
