Mike Olt starts the spring off right

by Alex Brodsky | Fri, Mar 6th 12:09pm EST

Mike Olt took left-hander Barry Zito deep for a two-run homer in his first at bat in Thursday's Cactus League tie against the Athletics.

Fantasy Impact:

Olt showed power for the Cubs last season, hitting 12 homers in 258 at bats, but he hit only .160/.248/.356 overall. Many consider this to be Mike Olt's last chance to play in a Chicago Cubs uniform. He has Kris Bryant creeping up behind him in the depth chart and needs to have a dominate spring to turn some heads. The 26-year-old has said his time in the minors changed him for the better last year, if this is true there is no reason not to think that Olt can play 3B this year and push Kris Bryant to start his career playing in LF.
