Tim Federowicz to have surgery on Thursday

An MRI in Phoenix on Monday revealed a lateral meniscus tear. According to Padres manager Bud Black, Tim Federowicz will undergo arthroscopic surgery. (Corey Brock on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
There is now a vacancy as back up catcher in San Diego. Non-roster invitee Wil Nieves could get the job or the Padres might talk to the Cubs about Welington Castillo or the Blue Jays about Dioner Navarro. It is unlikely that star prospect Austin Hedges will be rushed just to be a back up.
