Brewers release Chris Perez

Perez pitched well this spring posting a 2.70 ERA in 10 appearances, but the Brewers would have needed to open a spot on the 40-man roster to keep him. The veteran had an out-clause in his contract with a Tuesday deadline. (Brewers.com)

Teams frequently seek depth in their bullpens especially pitchers who have experience in pressure situations such as Perez. Because closer roles can be volatile due to injuries or ineffectiveness Perez could be someone to keep on your scout team just in case.
