Greg Holland blows save, picks up the loss on Wednesday

by Brad Camara | Thu, Jun 24th 8:47am EDT

Kansas City Royals pitcher Greg Holland allowed two runs on three hits while striking out one across a 1/3 of an inning against the Yankees on Wednesday. He was tagged with the blown save and loss.

Fantasy Impact:

Holland entered the ninth inning to protect a one-run lead. He struck out the first batter he faced before surrendering a game-tying homer to Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez. The 35-year-old yielded another run on a wild pitch and two more hits before being saddled with the loss. Holland is 5-for-9 in save opportunities along with a 4.45 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, and 31 strikeouts across 28 1/3 innings in 2021. The veteran reliever continues to be used as the Royals' primary closer, but Holland could be on the hot seat after another blown save.
