Zach Eflin strikes out 12 in no-decision on Sunday

by Dan Harris | Rays Correspondent | Sun, May 22nd 6:47pm EDT

Zach Eflin allowed two runs on four hits and two walks over seven innings on Sunday against the Dodgers. He struck out 12 and did not factor into the decision.

Fantasy Impact:

If you were brave enough to start Eflin against one of the best lineups in the majors, you were handsomely rewarded. Despite striking out no more than five in any previous start this season, Eflin missed bats all day long, generating 19 whiffs on 53 swings with a 37% CSW rate. Eflin is an underrated and serviceable starter, but no one should expect this type of outing going forward, as he had just a 9.1% swinging strike rate coming into the year. At the same time, he'll rarely hurt you in a start, and can be deployed whenever you need quality innings, including in his next outing against the Mets.
