Wandy Peralta picks up second win in relief Monday

Wandy Peralta pitched one inning, allowing no runs on no hits and a walk while striking out one in New York’s 4-2 victory in Tampa on Monday.

Peralta pitched a nearly spotless 9th inning on Monday was briefly credited with the save. The official scorer invoked the rarely used “brief and ineffective reliever” clause and took the win from Clay Holmes and gave it to Peralta and replaced his second save with his second win. Peralta improved to 2-1 and carries a 2.43 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in 26 innings across 23 appearances this season.
