Mercado was claimed off waivers by the Phillies on Monday and will report right to the major league roster. It's unclear how often the Phillies plan to play Mercado, but there is room for playing time in the outfield in Philly. Mercado hit .202/.227/.377 in 119 plate appearances with Cleveland in 2022.
