Vespi underwent the hernia procedure on Jan. 5 and while he should be ready for Opening Day, he will not participate for Italy at the upcoming World Baseball Classic. The southpaw didn't allow a single earned run across 26 Triple-A appearances before posting a 4.10 ERA and 25% K% across 25 MLB outings, earning his first career save in the process.
