Fantasy Impact:
Valera also had offseason hamate bone surgery on his hand and was removed from a Feb. 28 game due to right wrist discomfort. The 22-year-old split the 2022 season between Double-A and Triple-A, combining to hit 24 home runs with two steals in 132 contests. His combination of power and on-base skills lined him up for his big-league debut in 2023 but it appears he'll need to rehab and likely start to the season in the minors before that takes place.
