Alek Manoah surrenders nine hits on Opening Day Thursday

by Owen Klukas | Blue Jays Correspondent | Fri, Mar 31st 1:47am EDT

Alek Manoah allowed five earned runs on nine hits over 3 1/3 innings Thursday versus the Cardinals, resulting in a no-decision in the 10-9 win. The right-hander struck out three and yielded two walks in the 85-pitch outing.

Fantasy Impact:

Manoah, who is usually a lock to last at least five innings, couldn't make it out of the third inning. The young stud produced 12 whiffs on 85 pitches. His 4-seam fastball reached a max velocity of 95.8 mph on Thursday. It's just one game, so there is no need to panic about the righty who produced 25 quality starts last season. The Homestead native is scheduled to start versus the Royals on Wednesday in Kansas City.
