Jorge Polanco adjusting to third base in Mariners camp

by Bruno Mulé | Mets Correspondent | Wed, Feb 19th 2:21pm EST

Jorge Polanco (knee) was spotted taking swings off a pitching machine during Wednesday’s full-squad workout, per Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times. The veteran infielder is coming off October surgery to repair damage to his left patellar tendon but appears to be fully cleared for baseball activities with no reported restrictions in Mariners camp.

Fantasy Impact:

Polanco struggled in his first season with Seattle, slashing .213/.296/.355 with a career-worst 29.2% strikeout rate over 118 games while battling hamstring and knee injuries. In an effort to improve his durability, the Mariners plan to transition him from second base to third base this season. While he may not be rushed into early Cactus League games, his positional flexibility could help maintain his fantasy value. If Polanco can rebound offensively, he could be a useful multi-position depth option in deeper leagues.
