Bailey Ober dealing with flu-like symptoms

by Mike Maher | Twins Correspondent | Sun, Mar 30th 10:27pm EDT

Twins starter Bailey Ober got roughed up by the St. Louis Cardinals to the tune of eight earned runs on eight hits and three walks over just 2 2/3 innings on Sunday, but it sounds like he may not have been at full strength. Per Dan Hayes of The Athletic, Ober "spent all day Friday sleeping and puking" and got an IV on Saturday. (Dan Hayes on X)

Fantasy Impact:

While Ober also had a disappointing season debut last season, this stumble appears to have somewhat of an explanation. Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers said Ober was "nowhere close to full strength," which likely contributed to his diminished stuff. Monitor the news over the next few days, but the hope is that the veteran right-hander was merely under the weather Sunday against St. Louis. He is currently projected to face the Astros at home in his next start.
