Fantasy Impact:

Reports indicate a long-standing fracture in the middle finger of Contreras' catching hand. X-rays taken on Tuesday confirmed the fracture with no further damage. He plans to wear a splint while catching but is expected to remain behind the plate. While Contreras maintains a solid .358 OBP this season, his slugging percentage has dropped significantly to .331, a notable decrease from his .466 mark in his All-Star 2024 campaign. The ongoing fracture provides a clear reason for this power decline. Fantasy managers can take some comfort in knowing this is not a new issue and one he has been playing through. However, don't anticipate his power numbers to rebound until the finger fully heals.
