Lorenzen strikes out nine in Royals' victory over Angels

Michael Lorenzen allowed two earned runs on five hits and no walks while striking out nine over 5.2 innings in Thursday's win against the Angels.

After today’s victory, Lorenzen holds a 4.64 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with a record of 7-11 across 26 starts this season. He had his highest strikeout rate since 2020 and also lowered his walk rate by 5% over last year. However, he also had his worst ERA in four years, and failed to reach 150 innings for the second year in a row. He's on a one-year deal with the Royals, so we'll see where he signs in the offseason.
