Pete Fairbanks becomes free agent after option declined
by Bruno Mulé | Thu, Nov 6th 5:01pm EST
Pete Fairbanks is officially a free agent after the Tampa Bay Rays declined his $11 million club option for 2026 on Thursday. The 31-year-old right-hander will receive a $1 million buyout and now looks to the free-agent market for his next opportunity. (Jeff Passan)
Fantasy Impact:
Fairbanks is coming off one of the best seasons of his career, finishing the 2025 regular season with a 2.83 ERA and 1.04 WHIP through 60.1 innings. He also collected a career-high 27 saves, and his reliability in high-leverage situations should attract plenty of interest in free agency.
