Peterson started a career-high 30 games in 2025, posting a 4.22 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and 150 strikeouts across 168.2 innings. He was dominant in the first half of the season, recording a 3.06 ERA and 1.23 WHIP, but struggled after the break with a 6.39 ERA and 1.62 WHIP. According to Will Sammon, the Mets could look to move him in a “need-for-need” type of trade. However, it remains unclear if a deal will materialize, as the asking price for Peterson is believed to be high.
