The Giants designated Wiemer on Wednesday once the free-agent signing of right-hander Jason Foley became official. The 26-year-old has struggled in limited big-league action, hitting just .205 with 16 homers and 12 steals across 180 big-league contests between the Brewers, Reds and, Marlins.
