Dane Myers has been traded to the Cincinnati Reds for minor league prospect, Ethan O'Donnell. The Reds designated righthander Lyon Richardson for assignment in a corresponding move to make room for Myers on the 40-man roster. (Mark Feinsand on X)
Fantasy Impact:
The Reds, who earlier in the day signed JJ Bleday, added to their logjam in the outfield by acquiring Myers from the Marlins. Myers, has played parts of three seasons in Miami and appeared in a career-high 106 games last year, slashing .235/.297/.326 while swiping 18 bases in 23 attempts. All told, Myers is a career .245 hitter in the big leagues with 10 home runs and 23 stolen bases. With all of the outfield moves made by Cincinnati, it's unclear what the plans are at the moment. We wouldn't expect Myers to win a starting job, but he certainly could carve out some kind of a role on the big league club.
