Burch Smith signs minor league deal with Tigers

Burch Smith has signed a minor league contract with the Detroit Tigers. The righthander will make $1.5 million if he makes the big league club. (Evan Petzold on X)

Smith has pitched for seven Major League teams over his 15-year professional career. He has also pitched in Japan and Korea while also spending seven seasons in Triple-A. Smith, who will turn 36 in April, has a 5.79 ERA in 247.1 career innings while pitching for the Padres, Royals, Brewers, Giants, Athletics, Marlins, and Orioles. He last pitched in the big leagues in 2024 and will look to back to the show with Detroit.
