Romy Gonzalez and the Boston Red Sox avoided arbitration and agreed to a contract worth a reported $1.6 million in 2026. (Boston Red Sox on X)
Fantasy Impact:
Gonzalez made the most of a platoon role with the Red Sox in 2025 and set career-highs in nearly every offensive category. He batted .305 with nine home runs and 53 RBI in 96 games while splitting time between first and second base. He is a career .269 hitter with 20 home runs in parts of five seasons with the White Sox and Red Sox. Gonzalez could have the inside track as being the full-time second baseman for Boston in 2026, which could make him a fantasy sleeper at the position if he can duplicate what he did last season over a complete year.
