Victor Caratini is signing a two-year deal with the Minnesota Twins according to multiple reports. The contract is worth $14 million, pending a physical. Minnesota will have to make a corresponding move to put Caratini on the 40-man roster. (Mark Feinsand on X)
Fantasy Impact:
Caratini, 32, was drafted in the second round by the Braves in the 2013 MLB Draft and he has played parts of nine seasons at the big league level. The catcher, arguably, had his best offensive season in Houston last year when he batted .259 with career-highs in home runs (12) and RBI (46) in 114 games. Caratini is a career .244 hitter in 2,233 plate appearances with the Cubs, Padres, Brewers, and Astros. He will likely serve as the backup catcher in Minnesota to start the season, unless the Twins decide to move Ryan Jeffers before opening day.
