Ryan Pressly announces retirement after 13 MLB seasons

Ryan Pressly has announced his retirement after 13 big league seasons with the Twins, Astros, and Cubs. He pitched with the Cubs last season and posted a 4.35 ERA in 44 games with Chicago. (Ken Rosenthal on X)

Pressly, who turned 37 in December, had a solid big league career earning two All-Star Game appearances with the Astros in 2019 and 2021. The former closer racked up 102 saves in Houston between 2020 and 2023 and posted a 2.81 ERA in seven seasons with the Astros. He finished his career with 37 wins, a 3.33 ERA, and 721 strikeouts in 691.1 career innings. Pressly also pitched in 47 career postseason games and had a 2.78 ERA with 14 saves in 45.1 innings. He had six saves and did not allow an earned in 11 innings during Houston's World Series title run in 2022.
