Kai-Wei Teng has been traded from the San Francisco Giants to the Houston Astros in exchange for catching prospect, Jancel Villarroel. The Giants are also receiving an undisclosed amount of international bonus money. (Alex Pavlovic on X)

Fantasy Impact:

Teng, a Taiwanese-born righthander, has made 12 appearances for the Giants over the past two seasons and has posted a 7.30 ERA in 40.2 innings. He does have swing-and-miss stuff as evidenced by his 28.1% strikeout rate last year. However, his command has been an issue with 25 walks and eight hit batters. His seven years in the minors have yielded the same - good strikeout numbers, high walk rates, and an alarming number of hit batsmen. Teng will get an opportunity to break camp as a swingman with Houston, but he is more likely ticketed for Triple-A Sugar Land.
