Jeremy Pena (finger) resumes throwing, Opening Day uncertain

by Bruno Mulé | Astros Correspondent | Wed, Mar 18th 10:09am EDT

Pena fractured the tip of his right ring finger two weeks ago while fielding a ground ball for Team Dominican Republic in an exhibition game, an injury that kept him out of the World Baseball Classic. He resumed limited baseball activities last week and will take another step forward this weekend by swinging a bat with both hands. (Chandler Rome)

Fantasy Impact:

Manager Joe Espada said Wednesday that Pena "has not been ruled out" for Opening Day, though his availability will depend on how the finger responds to the increased workload over the next few days. If Pena needs time to open the season, Carlos Correa is expected to shift from third base to shortstop.
