Vinny Nittoli signs minor league deal with Red Sox

Vinny Nittoli has signed a minor league deal with the Boston Red Sox. The righthander receives an invitation to major league spring training as part of the contract. (Ari Alexander on X)

Nittoli, 35, is a career minor leaguer who has been used sparingly at the big league level. In parts of four seasons, he has pitched with five different teams and amassed only 18.2 innings. Nittoli, however, has pitched to a 2.41 ERA in the majors. The righthander has pitched in 258 career minor league games and has a 4.41 ERA with 410 strikeouts in 363 innings. Nittoli will have an opportunity to battle for a low-leverage spot in the Boston bullpen during camp.
