Shane Bieber (forearm) will have his ramp-up throwing program delayed due to forearm fatigue, according to Blue Jays' manager, John Schneider. Bieber is expected to open the season on the injured list. (Mitch Bannon on X)
Fantasy Impact:
Bieber is a poster child for the "what if he stayed healthy?" conversation. The righthander has been limited to 30 regular season starts over the last three seasons, with 21 of those coming in 2023. The AL Cy Young Award winner in 2020, Bieber has been brilliant when healthy, sporting a 66-34 record with a 3.24 ERA and 995 strikeouts across 883.1 innings. He started seven games for Toronto last season and went 4-2 with a 3.57 ERA in 40.1 innings. He then posted a 3.86 ERA in 18.2 innings during Toronto's postseason run. With the latest news, Bieber will likely, yet again, not pitch a full season - something he hasn't done since 2022.
